I have 2 and they have both done shed loads of miles , (I'm talking over 1/2 million for one and 230k for the other)I've had them from new and really only had fair wear and tear .
If your glow plug warning light is staying on then you have at least 2 glow plugs out , dont worry about it , it really doesn't effect the starting unless your in Siberia . Trying to remove them to replace can , if your not very careful lead to a whole lot of problems which could turn out expensive .
Rust can be an issue but it sounds like your lucky , mine have very little rust on them and as they are taxicabs they are washed nearly every day and polished probably about once a month which probably helps . Anti roll bar bushes are probably the most frequent to go but are easy and inexpensive to replace .

Oh big mistake thinking that, if you get a good one, then you get a very good one!!

If you get a bad one, where do i start.............

Listen out for chuffing. Leaking exhaust from around the injector seals is really common. You should sort it as soon as you hear it, to lessen the labour charge of cleaning up all that gunk.
