I've had both window regulators changed after failing on my 2010 639 Vito, the offside in 2019 and the nearside in July 2022. The nearside has failed again (in less than two years). I'm not prepared to pay a fortune to a garage so removed the failed one myself to find one crappy little bit of plastic has failed, which can be seen in the bottom of this image.
There are lots of after market versions of the regulator available, but the part number provided by Mercedes (6397200446) points me to dozens with the wrong fitting. They almost all have a male cog with 12 lugs, mine has a female cog with 32 lugs. I believe (though can anyone confirm please?) that this is because mine has the comfort switch option.
It's proving a nightmare to find a suitable part, suppliers like autodoc point me in the direction of parts they say will fit, but the images invariably show the 12 lug male cog, or just the other side of the part so I can't see what cog it has.
I've asked the company that fitted the (now failed) replacement to give me a correct part number, but despite multiple calls they haven't replied. I'm considering threatening them with the 2015 Consumer Rights Act in respect of the "6 years reasonable length" clause, but he's a good mechanic and services and repairs both our vehicles so would be loathe to have to find someone else.
It seems absurd that I'm being quoted £193 + VAT from my local Merc garage for a replacement part (excluding fitting) considering the failure is a small piece of plastic.
Is anyone able to advise on a supplier of a compatible part please, as I've probably been researching for ten hours and still don't have a definitive answer. An alternative (which I'm seriously considering) is to try and repair the part with a screwed in metal plate.
