Just what I need in this weather...

... my Vito driver's window now refuses to move (fortunately in the closed position).

Activating the switch I hear the motor trying (both up and down) but no movement. I've manually moved the window up and down, squirted silicone spray in the runners, tried with the window mid-way and still no movement.

What would you suggest I try next?
Before I cut the nicely bonded sponge insulation to bits trying to get a better view, whereabouts is the motor inside the door?

Thanks

You'll need to remove the inner trim to diagnose.
It's a push / pull wire, onto a spiral drum, rotated by the motor.
Worst here is that the wire isn't holding the window up, it's just that the lower sliding rail is seized and waiting to drop some.

Thanks Martin,

Pulled it apart. The foam was glued on with sticky goo that never hardens. Using a sharp knife to separate, left goo on both sides so should stick back together afterwards without any problem.
It was the drive sprocket on the spiral drum that had the teeth sheared off.
Ordered a new one off ebay for £3.14 (It's circular and the price is Pi!)

Thanks,
that's useful for if mine goes wonky.
Pretty sure I've replaced the drive with aftermarket on a previous Vito, but could've been a pre loved part.
Your solution is cheaper.
