Hi all

I have a 2005 vito 2.1 with i think may be a abs fault , it started a few days age with the abs and traction light coming on the dash , so i plugged in my diagnostic box (not the best but it usually gets me by) it had a couple of codes stored (didn't make a note of them) , then went into live data to see if it was a wheel speed sensor , o/s/r was not reading , ordered a replacement ,fitted it all light went out , but when i went up the road the traction control kick-in at around 15mph, rechecked the wheel speeds and the o/s/r was reading twice as fast as the others, so replaced sensor again different brand (this time a bosch sensor) but the same think ,so bit the bullet and ordered a merc one , this time i have not speed output at the wheel and now have fault code of C146F,

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

thanks

Could be the reluctor ring.
A lot of rust and the sensor can't read it.

If your lucky it may be cleaned some through the sensor hole, when it's removed. But that could just be a short term solution.
If it does work at least you have diagnosed your issue.

Just a quick thought , do the wheel speed sensors need to be programmed into the van , could this be the problem?????

No, plug and play.
There isn't any electronics within the sensor to programme.

I've replaced a few.
Usually with snapped M6 threads that need retapping, then to be replaced with stainless.
Often I need drill out the sensor too.

Just a update , still no joy , the meec sensor will not read , still ha s same fault code C146F , put the bosch sensor in and code can be deleted but still reads twice as fast as the other wheels , so I am thinking the genuine sensor is faulty

All aftermarket sensors read double the speed. I have no idea why, but they do. The genuine sensors are not cheap, especially the offside as it comes complete with the pad wear loom. It sounds to me like the genuine sensor you have is faulty
