W 140 rear lights

Hi, I have a 1993 pre-face lift W 140
S class. Could anybody tell me, if the post-face lift rear lamp units are interchangable with my model.

You can fit the later ones, but you have to reshape the bootlid slightly, and carefully.

Thanks for the advice Nick,what area of the bootlid needs to be reshaped and can it be done without damaging the paintwork ?
