Just changed one of the ignition ballast resistors on my W108 which had cracked and fallen to bits... generic 12v non- OEM as had not had time to source an original... car started fine and alternator light went out straight-away (had been having trouble with it staying on and rough running)... idle is good and smooth but as soon as you put it into gear idle drops way down and it stalls... either stumbling for a couple of secs or just straight-away. Tried adjusting idle air screw and ECU idle mixture, no difference...
Car is low on fuel at the moment (in reserve) but like i say, idle in park/neutral is perfect... ???
could the ballast resistor have something to do with it? I'm I right in thinking on the lower of the 2, the + terminal is towards the front of the car?
