Hi there...

I have an '82 W123 280TE and the electrical gauges on my dash only work intermittantly.

The Economy & Oil Pressure work fine as does the Speedo as they are mechanical but the Fuel Gauge, Eng Temp and Rev counter, being electrical, keep coming on and going off.

I checked and replace any dodgy fuses in the eng-bay bulk head but no change.

Anyone got any idea's as to why and how i can fix it?

Many thanks

Nick

I would pull the large plug off the back and push it back on a couple of times. There are some proprietry electrical cleaning spray that you could try. If this doesn't work then you will have to open up the instrument cluster and take a look at the condition of the circuit board. Sometimes dampness can get inside and destroy the tracks. If so you can loop bridge over the damage with a bit of wire.

TThanks Tim

Did what you sai and now its fine.

I also changed all of the ceramic fuses. Some were badly corroded, some were ok.

Thanks again for the advice.

Cheers

Nick
