The mast on my W123 (300e) do longer goes up or down properly.

A number of years ago my local dealer replaced the mast (not the whole unit). I think that the aerial is made by Hirshmann - Does anyone know where I can get a new replacement mast (pref off the net) to replace myself.

Thanks

I believe the OEM is Hirschmann for the radio aerial system.

I also understand that replacement masts are still available from the Stealers for £20ish. A complete replacement Hirschmann aerial is near 10 times that. Rip off parts may be available cheaper from other sources .

So my recommend is to source a genuine replacement mast form the Dealer - after all the original ain't done bad.

You should also take off the side plate that covers the gearing and give it a good clean out and remove any broken nylon bits and slap some new grease in there. I have never replaced the mast but understand that if all is well with motor and gearing you just feed the mast down and turn off the power (radio/ignition) and the gearing will catch the tab and draw it down.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Just replaced the aerial on my 123 230 estate. The aerial is mounted on the nearside rear quarter. £35 pound from the local motor factors and job done. The new aerial came with a host of mounts but I just used the mount from the original with a bit of ingenuity.

You can find Hirschmann aerials on the net, but they are really expensive. I replaced the roof-mounted whip-style one on my 230TE, figured that I should buy the correct one, as it would match the holes.
Wrong...I bought one from them, it was not the same, and a completely different shape, and it cost damn near £50....should have got a motorfactor one for a tenner.
maybe you'll be luckier, but I'd look closely at the alternatives, don't think it was good value for money.

I had to replace mine because some drunken idiot snapped mine.

Bought a replacement from gsfcarparts.com for £25 plus VAT plus delivery £44 in total. That's for the full aerial - electric.
