My 230E steering had a lot of play in it, best part of 2" at the wheel. I did a search on here to find the answer, very useful results! I tried both clockwise and anti-clockwise out of interest. Anti-clockwise did the job, but I gave up with the 1/2 turn at a time suggestion. I ended up winding the grub screw out about 5mm!! Lock to lock is still smooth, with no tightness and less than 1/2" play at the wheel
