Good Day All.

I have spent the last week working on my 1988 230TE.

I have had to fit new front spring as they where broken.

I have spent all of today removing the rear axle and subframe, so that I can at long last replace the bushes.

And at the same time to replace the brake lines and the SLS pipes.

My 1st three questons are.

(1) Aprox how much new are the SLS pipes from the shocks to the spheres.
(2) Once eveything is back on the car how do I bleed air out of the shocks, I can't see any bleed nipple on the stocks, only on the SLS valve.
(3) Do I have to use Merc only SLS fluid, I ask as I have a trade discount card at halfords, I will not be using there own brand, but a branded name.

Thanks for your time.

I recently paid £42.50 each for the long pipes that extend from the SLS valve to the engine bay. That was from Hughes in Beaconsfield.

Wouldn't bother buying the pipes, despite being the longest pipes Mercedes have on their system, they were still too short!

The oil from merc isn't expensive and it is probably best to use that. If you buy all at once they may well give you a discount (if you ask).

Thanks for eveyones replys.

My merc is now back on the road after ordering and fitting all the new parts.

1x - MA1243201972 - £46.50 - £46.50
1x - MA1243202072 - £46.50 - £46.50
4x - MN007603016105 - £00.63 - £02.52
2x - MA1249900063 - £05.90 - £11.80
2x - MA000989910310 - £09.15 - £18.30

Total £125.62 + VAT @ 15% = £144.46

Just be draining all the old SLS fluid and flushing the system with new, the ride is much better, not as hard as it was before, but I do think I will need to replace the spheres soon.
