Thanks for all the replies again, to be honest I was caught on the hop a bit as I thought it would take longer to sell the Prelude, that went on Saturday morning down in Cork where I'm from but the Merc was up in Galway (where I work and live Mon to Friday) so I couldn't service her before putting her on the road. The factors that I got the fuel filter in did not have the prefilter in stock, I hope to get one this weekend and also change the oil. The air filter looks fine, I had a peak at it last week.

NCT (Irish MOT) tomorrow so I do hope she is fine overall, she certainly seems to be, my only major concern would be worn joints, bushings etc that don't show up when driving but that may be noticed. I feel she will fail on the tracking as I got 3 tyres fitted by a mobile fitter last week but couldn't get the car to him for tracking as she wasn't insured. I don't mind failing on small, easy fixable stuff, fingers crossed she is healthy enough in the testers view.

Had an indicated 170 (KPH) with mine so that equates to 104 mph ?
250D manual 1991 with just over 400,000 kms .
have you tried biodeisel through it? its common here in Poland and mine runs very well on it .
Ok you need to change the filters first tankful but its an easy thing to try (if its availible to you!)

No, haven't tried the bio diesel, I ran my Rover 400 diesel on half veg oil half diesel for a while, I didn't like the smell off it. Bio diesel isn't too common over here from forecoarts. 104 mph  Well done

Just a copy and paste from my ABS thread to update on the NCT result to keep this thread flowing for any readers in the future :)

Failed on a few things.......

Battery not secure (same as on myPrelude, I have no luck with these batteries)
Handbrake (reckon I can fix that myself after reading the thread about replacing the disks and pads on W124s on here , only the drivers side is weak)
Headlight aim (both too high, I presumed they were fine as they are both at the same level)
Seatbelt in the back (was under the armrest and the lazy bastad wouldn't move the armrest down to pull it out)

none of the above bothers me and are either free or cheap to fix, in fact the lights is the only one I will have to pay for...

but.......... he failed it on the ABS light, have to sort now, I do hope it is not expensive.

Happy enough though overall, nothing too serious, he also said that she was sound underneath.
