Ok, some of you maybe familiar with my ongoing C107 diesel project. Basically I bought the car with the OM603 engine and box froma W124 fitted but by no means fettled, I need your help with this one!

The gearchange is very harsh and so i have gone to check vacuum to the box and found this on the modulator valve. The supply to the valve is ok but what i assume is the output side with the green filter goes nowhere and is simply blanked, what is connected to the box is the bottom one that goes into the valve body, I know it is wrong but has anyone any clue as to what should be connected there?

Your help would be really appreciated!

Thanks malcolm, it was a C107 280 but there is not much of the vacuum system left, any idea what the lower pipe should be connected to?

I have an OM 605 and an OM 606 and I'm sure that yours has no vacuum source, since the pipe to the filter on the IP should deliver vacuum from the pump on the camshaft front. The IP then modulates the pressure according to throttle opening and sends the resulting vacuum to the box via the pipe you have discovered which IS connected.

Thanks for that, I believed that the vacuum to the box was one of the 2 lines in the black plastic unit on top the housing, if not do you know what the function of the one next to the green filter would be?

I have a friend with a W124 300D auto, I will try to have a look at his sometime!

Hope these may help and the diagram is legible enough. One 5 cyl, one 6 cyl pic I'm afraid.
