Hi all,Over the last 18 months or so I have had problems on my 1989 300e saloon, started out as a misfiring .So changed rotor, dis.cap, plug leads and plugs, all fine for a while, then would misfire some days other days fine.Green flag lifted me back home on the odd accasion.I have changed the ovp relay, crankshaft sensor, ignition block, fuel distributer and other parts I cant remember.Still didnt cure the problem.what was happening now was when it reached running temp it would start to misfire and then cut out and not start untill it had cooled down, other days would run like a harrier jet.I have been reading your forums for over a year when I came across one with the same sort of probs as mine(two weeks ago)An indie cured his prob when checking the engine and found the dis.cap and rotor arm were pattern parts. So I checked mine and low and behold they were pattern parts .So I went and purchased genuine parts and fitted them to my beloved merc.I held my breath and turned the ignition key.It fired up instantly!!.It sounded better runs better,So the morale of this story is buy genuine eletronic parts.Hope this may help others,,,all the best Barry david

very true. pattern parts may bet a pound or 2 less but much poorer quality, as you have found out! you live and learn! it almost brings the saying "buy in haste, repent at your leisure" to life!
