W124 4-speed auto - lock-up in top?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if the 4-speed auto box fitted to the W124 has torque converter 'lock-up' in 4th?

In my 280E, when cruising around 70mph, even the slightest added pressure on the accelerator will see the revs rising without any increase in road speed.

A previous Jaguar XJ40 did have 'lock-up' which would see revs 'match' road speed increases under gentle acceleration - just as if it had a manual g/box.

MB boxes only have a momentary lock up, and a slight change in RPM can be seen when moving the throttle

Thanks Malcolm - I'll keep a more watchful check on exactly how the revs behave relative to road speed and accelerator position.

Should it be possible to tell when lock-up takes place?

It is only momentary, then releases again, this stops the jolt that some cars are prone to when going into top
