Had been planning to ask a question about stick aerials and their cure or replacement, but a quick search found this link http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=15560&highlight=radio+mast
where most of my questions are answered.
While I was looking in the boot though, at the aerial motor, I noticed this white know just forweard of it with the German words "Heben" and "Senken" on it.
A quick babelfish translation reveals that they mean lift and lower. Is this in connection with the aerial, or if no, what does it do ?

Very curious.

Anyway, I don't want to go buy a new aerial this week as an errant stone from a fast moving builders truck yesterday means we need a new windscreen, which hopefully will be fitted tomorrow.

Do you have a sunroof ? If so, there will be a white plastic knob/nut (17mm I think) close to the areial location which can be used to close the roof if electrics fail.

Raise & lower

The 190s with hydraulic rear suspension have a raise & lower knob in the boot. Maybe hydraulic W124 saloons have the same? W124 estates are all hydraulic and don't have any adjusters inside the car

The W124 sunroof knob doesn't have any markings on it that I have seen. There are two things - a white plastic hex head that is for manually closing the roof and a pull-out knob to set the end stop of the roof. They're by the sunroof motor just behind the offside C pillar
