Does anybody out there know how to reprogramme new alarm fobs for the alarm on a 1992 W124?

Both of the fobs that came with my car are broken and the dealership charge for a new fob is £117 +vat

I've discovered that Scorpion was the OEM supplier for these and there are a few Scorpion remote locking upgrade kits on ebay that come with 2 of the correct type of fobs.

The other option, is maybe I could swap out the control box that comes with these kits for the one already installed?

Anybody know where this box woul dbe located so I can check to see if this is feasible?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
James.

Hi,
According to mercedes these fobs are "specific" to your car and can,t be reprogrammed. This being the case you would expect the fob to work straight out the box so to speak, mine did,nt. It needed to be resynched to the car. If your key is the same as mine single button flick knife style key from side i only paid approx. £60-70
As i,m at work i,ve not got the paperwork but i will attempt to remember the procedure,
Unlock the car with your working remote and turn your ignition on then lock and unlock your car with the new remote may have to do it more than once
Identify your alarm via Pt. No. on control box/alarm siren, and try this link regarding OEM equipped Scorpion Alarms, kindly posted originally by another forum member

http://www.boopolo.com/alarms/alarm.html

Just reread your original post and you don,t actually say that your car has remote locking tied into your alarm fob if it is "just" alarm fob have you tried Scorpion website as they do replacement fobs for a fraction of the price you,ve been quoted.(as long as your fob has,nt got a built in key).
If its remote locking you want then there is an additional control box (scorpion Pt No. in the link i,ve posted) that can be added to "some" of the alarm systems.
Let me know how you get on and if you want me to post a link to the scorpion website.

Thanks for the help.

I don't have the flick knife type keys, just 1 button fobs. The plastic cases for the fobs have Mercedes logos.

I've just contacted Scorpion and they are fixing one of my eisting fobs and providing a brand new one, programmed form the other for the total of £41.70including postage and VAT. Quite a saving over the dealer price.

the link to the Scorpion site is below:

http://www.scorpionauto.com/

The car does have remote locking the works from the same fob.

If anybody else has the same problem, I was looking at the following from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=170070621079&rd=1&rd=1

On the basis of either re-programming the 2 new fobs, or simply swapping out the control box for the new one that the 2 new fobs are already programmed to work with.

Thanks for the help with this.
