Hello, I've just purchased a '94 W124 cabriolet and the rear offside electric window refuses to go down please can anyone advise where to start my investigation into this.
Also the car needs a cracked headlight replaced, will any headlight from any W124 model from any year fit and match the other side??
Thanks, in anticipation!

im afraid you'll have to give a little more info andrew, like can you hear the motor trying to work,is there power to the switch etc. trying to find an electrical fault is a case of tracking it down in a logical manner, unless of course its a mechanical fault in which case you'll have to remove the door panel! and as for the headlight yes any w124 model will fit!

Thanks

Thanks Marshie for the info regarding the headlight. I've just bought the car and am working through a list of things to do, I haven't actually collected the car yet. I've got sagging headlining on the soft top to sort as well as.......ABS light always on!!!

Hi,
just a small point, I recently replaced both lenses on my '88 W124 CE, MERCMAN in Southampton sorted it for me and they said that there are differences in the headlights between the 'old' style front end (merc star on radiator frame) vs 'new' style (Merc star on bonnet). Try to get replacement lenses they are much cheaper than the entire lamp unit.

124 Cabriolet window problems

I've also got a 124 320 Cabriolet with a sticking rear window. Sometimes it works perfectly sometimes it just looks at you. It's of course dangerous as when you operate the power hood if you don't notice it's still up it can damage the hood mechanism.
I've yet to track down the problem but a German friend of mine says it may be best to live with it as he's had the same problem on an SL at it was traced to a fault in the central power hood electrics brain which apparently is unrepairable and costs a fortune to replace.
May just be gossip but Ii thought I'd pass it on as thisd guy sells Mercs and knows his stuff.
