Hi,

I'm currently looking at buying my first Mercedes, an E320 coupe. I've been for a test drive in it and all was well; nice smooth box, no rattles, no strange knocks etc. Overall a fab car.

But, the car had a small patch of rust bubbling away under the paint by the aerial, it was only a small patch though. It didn't look all that serious to my untrained eye but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before and if so, is it easy to fix??

Thanks in advance.

It seems that arials were fitted by the dealers themselves in the UK rather than at the factory - dunno why. It may be that the fitting was done less than perfectly and hense the rust.

Best bet is to get a quote on the repair before committing yourself. Nice cars those W124 CE's :)

Thanks for your help. The chap selling it did mention that "they had to drill a hole in the bodywork" to fit it so that explains what he means!

He reckoned an about £150 to put the problem right.

Moving off topic slightly, how have you found your CE in terms of running costs etc.? (If you don't mind me asking :) )

The most exbenzive thing you will find is servicing costs due to the 6k service intervals. Best thing to do is DIY or find yourself a good independent MB garage.

Other than that, these cars just go on and on.
