None at the monent, but there's an OM642 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Hi Guys,

I've noticed significantly more wind noise coming from the driver's door on my '93 280E, compared to the passenger side. After nearly 170,000 miles it may well be that the rubber outer door seal has lost its resilience. Is it an easy enough replacement, and how is the seal retained in the door? Looks straightforward, but I've been caught out too many times in the past :)

I did consider adjusting the lock striker plate, but the door alignment looks spot-on - both from the side and down the length of the car. There's no hint of hinge 'sag', either.

Other than the door rubber, is there anything else to consider? Maybe the seals surrounding the door glass?

I appreciate that complete silence may be hard to acheive on a 14 year-old car, but there's a definite difference between the two sides!

Thanks

If the quadrant in the window mechanism is worn (as usual) the window may not be closing fully. Alternatively, if the door is a little proud, you may be able to reduce the noise a little by moving the lock plate on the jamb inwards about 1 mm
