Hello,

Can someone please tell me how to remove this part? It is the driver's door solenoid although MB may call is something else.

It has stopped working and this is prevent the total closure function working. I have just ordered a replacement convenience module (from eBay for £15, which seems too cheap I know, but the proof will be in the testing), which has been is located as the issue. However in doing this investigation, it was found the door solenoid part also needed replacement.

I suspect eBay will be my best option. But advice is sought.

Many thanks in advance,
SY

PS. Does MB or a third party sell the plastic door card lining, I'm after a self-adhesive version as clearly what is presently in the car is not OEM, but a thin poly bag.

169 views but no replies, perhaps my question wasn't clear enough. This part is required as at present, turning the key in the driver's door does not activate the central locking. It has power etc so I suspect the part requires replacement. Doing the same on the passenger front door does activate the central locking.

My quick interest research tells me this part is usually without part number and is made by Hella. It is therefore a little tricky to find on eBay. What is the difference between a solenoid and actuator?

Many thanks in advance.

In this case solenoid and actuator appear to be used interchangably, MB appear to call it a vacuum element and/or door lock actuator... http://mbspecialist.com/mercedes_webcatalog/124092_1992-1996/80/80-050/1248002175B/

Subcategories 72 and 80 cover taking the doors apart and central locking... http://www.w124performance.com/service/Index/104index.html If you haven't got a multimeter to test the actuator then it appears* as though they aren't sided i.e. could swap it with the front passenger side and see if the problem moves

* I might be wrong about that, basing it solely on the fact i can only find references to front or rear door actuators and i know the locks themselves aren't sided ( i swapped the worn drivers side with the passengers on mine)

There is a micro switch built into the door lock that operates the pump, they can be cleaned using a hypodermic needle with switch cleaner

Many thanks for this. The parts I can find on eBay are all back and my unit appears to be white, see the photos. I presume that is a cage/ housing which I will be able to re-use. They all seem to have the same three-pin connector plug, which is the important bit I suspect.
