W124 Doors re-lock themselves

My 1996 E320 Cabriolet has developed an issue where, having unlocked the doors with either the remote or key, the doors re-lock themselves after a short period.

My local independent has checked the vacuum pump and hoses and can't find a leak.

I'm wondering if a faulty door/boot/fuel cap actuator is telling the others to re-lock. Any help would be much appreciated.

If the sensor does not know the door has been opened after you have unlocked it...it will re-lock as it would do if you hadn't opened the door.

Is there a switch in the handle or lock which isn't making contact...the light switch?

Not thought of that. I do know that the belt butlers correctly sense when the doors are open or closed. Would that be the same sensor?

Don't know...but it would seem likely.

All the mercedes that I know of will re lock if the drivers door is not opened after using the remote.

Look closely at door lock buttons, one may not be fully rising so causing the car to re lock.

The doors re-lock regardless of whether the door is opened or not.

I'll check if all the buttons fully rise. If one is staying low what would that indicate?

Sticking button/mechanism or a vac cell leak.

Found that the passenger door button was sticking occasionally. I'll investigate this week and let you know the outcome.
