W124 E220 loses power

Hi, I drive a '96 E220 W124 estate with 125k miles. Several times it has lost almost all power whilst being driven. Sometimes the power comes back and sometimes I have to pull-over and wait 10 mins before restarting the engine, the engine always restarts. When the power goes the engine temp gradually drops and idle revs are irrattic. Throttle does little until kick-down point where revs go up and then gearbox changes gear. HT leads and plugs look OK. Any ideas please?

First thing is to go to an independent Merc specialist and get the codes read and find out what error messages are showing.

Get a recommendation from another Merc driver of similar age car or see adverts in mags such as Mercedes Enthusiast at WH Smiths.
