don't use my info _ I'm not sure what engine / spec it is

Hi again Botus,

So I finally had a message back from Mercedes to say that the correct part according to our VIN is A111 200 12 15.... which costs 251 € from them. Or about 15 € for an aftermarket part.

What I don't really understand is that the OEM thermostat you linked to – A 11 120 009 15 – according to all the parts sellers I've found online, IS compatible with our car and engine, and the OEM part from Mercedes for that costs 46 €. So how interchangeable are things like these thermostats, temperature sensors etc, when they are indeed the OEM parts ?

The more expensive part will be an entire assembly.
The cheaper part will just be the thermostat component.

Google the numbers (minus the spaces) and you'll see what I mean.

Dealers are very good at upselling assemblies.
