My E280 is in dire need of replacement shock absorbers front and rear. I would like to fit original specification ones which I believe to be Bilstein or Boge/Sachs. Does anyone know the best place to buy these either as front struts or inserts. I have been quoted £32.50 each for rears and front inserts (Boge/Sachs)from German French and Swedish. Also has anyone had experience of any other manufacturers products. I have seen various brands for sale on German e-bay, but have had no experience of buying from it before.

I fitted Bilstein's to the rear of my old E280 from German/Swedish and they were fine

Price seemed resonable to me as well.

Cheers

Thanks for the encouragement. I went for Sachs front legs complete and rears from German French and Swedish. £49.55 fronts and £32.50 rears. They came with all new bolts etc and took around two hours for the whole job. It appeared that the shocks I took off were the original ones as the lower bolts still had the red paint on them. I did not need a spring compressor as I had anticipated and Mr Haines was very helpful. The car is late 1993 and covered 117K. The ride was not actually that bad but with the new damping it has become more controlled and the steering a lot more positive and precise. Well worth the time and money.
