Hi, made the code reader and got the following from the 16-pin connector (I don't have the version with button & LED):

Only pins 6,8,10 and 12 exist on my model.

Pin6 (SRS) - codes 3,4,6,8 and 9 - they will not clear.
Pin8 (ECM) - code 32 - cleared OK, now just flashing once.
pin10 (A/C??) - doesn't respond at all
Pin12 - (IR Remote) - code 9 - also will not clear.

The CDs seem to indicate pin 6 is the Airbags but I can't find code descritions anywhere - this one worries me as I carry the kids around a lot....

Pin 8 code 32 is also a weird one - the list of codes I found for the E320 by searching stops at 28! (I did re-read this twice befoe clearing - definitely code 32).

Car is 1995 W124 Coupe/E320 with auto, A/C, HFM (no cruise).

Can someone please send me/point me to code lists for this car and confirm I have the right pin interpretation?

Thanks.

Hello Steve, was there a fault on the car in the first place, or was this like reading a medical book only to find that you have 6 weeks to live.

Malcolm, more like a PPP healthcheck to catch it before it kills you!

Cleaned up the throttle butterfly and the sensor in the pipe today - improved the take-off even more - I really like the power/quietness/"waft" of this car!

The biggest difference is that the feeling of being in too high a gear/lack of torque has completely gone.

Just a door check strap to do now plus a bit of wheelarch edge rust.

Can you explain a bit more about what you did to the throttle butterfly ?
I had a look at mine the other day and there was a small pool of oil in the
pipe underneath it as seen when the flap is open.
The sensor on the side must measure air temp, mine was clean.
sensor.

Took the pipe off and the leading and trailing butterfly edges plus the bore wall all caked in carbon/oil mixture (from the breathers I assume).

Cleaned off with some injector cleaner and a bent soft toothbrush and then a cloth over the toothbrush end to polish the dissolved gunk off - cleans up the airflow and prevents air leakage past the butterfly when it closes. Wear gloves as the injector cleaner is fierce stuff! Also use only the barest amount as you don't want a flood down there.
