It's not actually that difficult, just time-consuming and, in parts, very fiddly
You start by centring the steering wheel, disconnecting the battery and removing the airbags. Then mark the position of the wheel vs the column. Remove both front carpet panels. Then it's centre console box, centre console wood trim, heater dials, etc, centre console, under-dash trim and carpet either side of the tunnel
Then heater vents, speedo drive (a tight thumbscrew), dash binnacle (buy the tools off eBay for £12), steering wheel (the 10mm hex bolt is tighter than anything you've ever seen in your life), slipring boss, unplug & remove the stalk(s) and remove the steering column plastics
I can't remember the next steps but it's basically unbolt & remove dash
You need a torx driver with a hollow centre for the airbag, an air gun for the 10 mm hex bolt, dash binnacle pullers, a 24 mm socket for the heater control & headlight nuts, an 8 mm socket in a pair of mole grips for the top mount of the centre console, probably 10 and 13 mm sockets and two or three sizes of crosshead screwdrivers
