Hi all!

I have been tinkering with the panzerwagen and I got the tailgate self closing to work, but it wouldn't switch off the interior lights. So I adjusted the mechanism so it closed a bit tighter, but then couldn't get the damn tailgate to open at all! I had to buy a large philips screwdriver and undo the catch from inside the boot and take the whole mechanism out again :( Ahh, that rubber around the lock barrel. Such fun.

Anyway, it is now working except it still doesn't switch off the interior lights. It seems that the 'hook' that connects to the floor of the boot has 3 positions; open, closed, then a final nudge closes it completely. When it does this final nudge the microswitch connects and turns off the lights, but when the tailgate closes using the self close mechanism it doesn't give that final nudge. If I close the tailgate manually with a little force the tailgate closes completely and the lights go out.

Hope that makes sense!!??

I'm guessing that it is either the mechanism that needs a 'position adjust' to force it completely closed, or the motor in the self close hasn't got enough strength to pull the tailgate completely closed.

Do any of you have any experience with these? I realise that it is hardly important for the running of the car, but I like these things to be original and correct.

thanks

Simon
