Can anyone advise over following (W124 estate, 250 diesel, Manual, RHD, 1989, very good condition)

(1) wet carpet in rear nearside passenger footwell in dips of front seat bolts. No idea where this has come from! Any clues? Window & door seals all sound. Never happened before but weather in Wales has been extreme!

(2) Is it normal for oil pressure needle to drop from position 3 to position 2 when idling and when change gear slowly? (Nb manual diesel)

Thanks for help.

The fact that the damp is centered around the seat bolts might mean there water coming up from the ground.... get underneath and check for damage! The dampness might be little more than the sunroof letting in water, cleaning the rails and/or the draining pipes (someone who knows better than I can clarify that!).

I have a '90 Estate and I've found that the pressure does drop when idleing but on my '93 200 it's constantly at the top.... they both run like new so.....

as long as your oil pressure reads above 2 at 1500 rpm then it's "within tolerance" (well that's according to MB). Mine drops to 2 when the engine is warm and idling even with new oil and filter - mind you it has done 220k miles :)

check the sunroof drains to see if they are clear - that's the usual place for water to get in
