hi, i've recently bought a 1996 w124 e200 estate and cannot get any air, either hot or cold, into the drivers footwell. all the other vents (passenger footwell, dash vents and screen vents ) work fine on both sides. any help in where and what to look for would be much appreciated. thanks in advance, rod.

Remove the drivers underdash panel and have a look to see if it blocked or see if you can see the offending flap.

I had a similar problem on my new (to me) E320 W210. It turned out to be very simple in that the previous owner had removed the bluetooth kit and had removed the airflow direction dial - part of the panel. when putting it back they did not bother putting the "legs" on the back of the dial into the female - I know why cos it's really fiddly.

I am assuming you have the twin wheel aircon.

Your's might be different, but this was the solution to my problem. Before you pull it apart (and it was obvious to me afterwards when working properly) when you twist the air direction dial do you get any (faint) resistance, i.e. the legs on the back of the dials turning. If it is really smooth with no resistance would check it.

Just an idea, hope it works for you, cos it won't cost a bean
