I've got a 300CE-24 twin turbo, needs an lsd, I'm bored of spinning one wheel.

Did any model 124 come with one?

Whats the easiest way of getting one in there?

They were a cost option on pretty much all 124's at the time of ordering.
Should be pretty much a straight swap, although I think that the d/shafts were different.

I might be very wrong but i was under the impression that only cars with ASR (if it was called that back then) got a LSD?

EDIT: scrub that, just had a look here

Its not that simple, as you have the electrics to contend with on ASD

I don't really do electrics (witchcraft) but presumably the LSD itself is just a plate or torque biasing type (entirely mechanical) and could be used without the traction control system simply to redirect torque when one wheel loses traction?

I have not studied all of the ins and outs, but there is an ECU for it plus other things, its all fed from the OVP relay

Alas, no.

ASD is a hydraulic locking diff - if you go up a level or two on the Russian site, and look under hydraulics, you'll find the piping run and the extra accumulator which is fitted to the underbody.

The system takes input from the ABS sensors, and when slip is detected applies hydraulic pressure to the diff, locking the output shafts together. It's a complex system, and it's very much designed for allowing you to set off and drive slowly on slippery surfaces rather than a high performance, high speed device.

Yeah I dont want that ASD Jazz. Is the old 190 16v diff the only one they did without it?
