Well the gearbox on my faithful old 200TE is starting to show signs of terminal decline (jumping out of gear etc.)
The synchromesh has been a bit iffy since I bought it 2 years ago and I was told at that time to make sure I got the right box if I wanted to replace it.
However according to my Haynes manual there was only one type of 5-speed manual box fitted to the 124, having the code "717.4".
According to the website "Germanautodismantlers.com" the same box was used on the W201 too.
If there are if fact minor differences in the 717.4 box, how can I tell if I am buying the right box off a scrappie?
