W124 Mercedes oem mudflaps

The car I've just bought has oem mudflaps fitted and the front ones seem far too low; I can hear them scrape the ground when going(slowly) over speed humps. Has anyonelse noticed this?

That'll be 12 years of suspending that huge great 6-cylinder engine catching up with the front springs

I like 'em low at the front - it doesn't seem to hurt the handling - so why not just cut an inch off the mudflaps?
