OOPS! Reversing out of garage today just the same as every other day. But today managed to snap the drivers mirror recoil system. Beyond repair I,m afraid, 2 of the metal connections fractured. rest of mirror- electric adjustment and glass/heater OK Some questions.
1. do the coupe and saloon of the same vintage share the same mirror design?
2. did the mirror design stay the same during the run of the w124 series.
3.Apart from the colour coding in the later facelift models are the basic innards the same?
4. Is transfering the colour coded shell from my broken mirror unit to another second hand unit feasible?
5. example. what I need is a new triangular mounting plate+ recoil mechanism.
could I mount my old mirror unit to this replacement mounting unit It apppears only 2 rivets are involved.
6. How interchangeable are the manual and electric mirrors parts.
Has anyone repaired their mirror like this or should I just buy a replacement?
