W124 Radio & CD Changer

Quick question for those of you in the know, my 89 E300 Has a pioneer CDX-M100 Cd player and multi changer fitted, and it doesn't illuminate the screen which leads me to think its back light has burnt out. I removed the Head unit today and noticed there is only two main wires to the head unit (not the expected birds nest!) Could someone please tell me if this is the original Head unit? as there is no loom for an after market set. Thanks

It's not original

I don't think the early cars like yours used the ISO connector but the later W124s do. You'll need an ISO connector to hook up a modern unit - you can find them at Halfords & etc with a short loom to patch into the existing wiring

Thanks very much, I was just going to run a whole new system throughout as the previous owner has replaced the speakers with 2x250w Sonys, plus 2x75w tweeters in dash, 2x250w Alpines in the rear, 2 Pioneer 1000a amplifiers, fitted very well but wired by a moron, all the speaker units are fitted and hidden so there are no stupid holes but bits of cellotape and other tapes paching all the wires together. Would the ISO connector be worthwhile or should I run my own looms ?
