My drivers door was proving difficult to open from the outside ( it opens fine rom the inside of the car . The Handle moves outwards easily but the door then needs a big tug to free it as if something is jammed in the Door but it isn't as it opens easily from the inside. I gave a good dose of Wd40 iinitially to the slider plate and visible catch assembly on the door but no change . I think it may be to do with the ouside Door Handle Anyone any thoughts ?????

nice 201 2.5D 1993 & very nice 129 SL500 1994
The handle is held in place by the lock, which in turn is held by an allen screw acessable through the end of the door behind and level with the lock/handle.
Put the key into the lock turn it to unlock pos'n and you should be able to pull the lock out, once the lock is out the handle will detach.
The handle may have gotten a good dolpop of gunge on it, clean it up and give it a try.

If the latch assembly is to blame it is somewhat tricky and awkward to remove and replace, but to do so:- remove the door card and outside handle then the plastic anti theft cover (and maybe the window glass) and the central locking actuator first, then you can stuggle the latch out.

Re assembly is of course the reverse of the above.

Its roughly covered in the Haynes book.

Good luck.
