She will tilt, but one back corner seems to stick in the slide mode and wont drop down prior to sliding back - any ideas?
(normally use the roof at least twice a week - it's bit slow but apart from that it's been fine!)

i'll clean the fuses tonight - i was just thinking about lubricating her this weekend too!

Are the fuses for the roof under the bonnet?!

Cheers

From experience the 124 sun roof is to say the least a nightmare to access.

Methinks that one of your roofs linkages has become detached and it will be likely that the only way to get at it is by lowering the assembly into the car (its in a big tray bolted to the roof panel), a not for the faint hearted job that involves taking the roof lining out which in turn starts with removing the back seat, pillar trims(6off), front head lining, rear view mirror etc etc and so on, set aside at least two days to remove, renovate and replace it.

A push cable comes from the motor in the boot into the sun roof tray assembly and is attached to a rail inside which slides back and forth operating onto each side of the roof panel through some clever linkage and slide rails which provide the tilt if driven from closed forwards, and the slide if driven backwards, the linkage is barley visible through the tilted up roof have a good look at each side before you consider any dismantling since there is the off chance that you may be able to fiddle any detached part of the links or sliding bits into place by hand/finger through the side of the tilted up roof.

There is only one fuse so if the motor is running it will be ok.

Best of luck with it.

It is more than likely to be one of the linkages, they are made from cast ali and break, but there is NO need to remove sun roof cassette. ;)

if broken, you have to replace, (roughly about £60 a side) but its one of those jobs that when started and stripped, you cannot put back together unless you have fitted the new parts. be careful when refitting the roof panel lining, as you can catch the new slides and break them. :(. like the bikes, R1 man myself. ;)
