I've just about finished replacing the pipes that run under the car. This is the second TE I've done this on, and anyone who has ever done it will feel my pain! The job has vexed me, made me question my faith and almost reduced me to tears on occasions, at other times it's made me go out and buy even more tools just because the ones I had wouldn't fit in the space...

Anyway, in my frustration and joy at actually getting the old pipes off, I forgot to note which union is which at the level sensing unit. Does it matter? I assume it does, one must be the feed from the pump, the other must be return. However I can't make out any markings on the unit - well those that exist don't seem to show anything.

So Help! Which way????

You know, that would be so useful if I could read Russian! German I can do, French I can survive with, but that's not even the same alphabet :(

The answer...

Well I guessed. And got it wrong. Which meant I had to swap them over with fluid dribbling out - not fun; you have to get them aligned precisely to get the threads to engage.

Anyway, the answer, for anyone that should be looking for this information in the future, is that the feed from the pump goes in the lower union, while the return is connected to the top. Hope somebody finds this useful.
