I'm thinking of replacing the hydraulic tappets on my 300D as there's a couple of 'lazy' ones and no amount of additives seems to make any difference.

I'll be replacing the chain tensioner while I'm at it, should I do the chain as well? The car has done 190k, what's the life expectancy of a chain?

How much more work is it to replace the chain?

not much more work really, but then again if oil has been changed regular the chain should be ok, the mileage is a little issue, but ive seen many a 124 with intergalactic miles on same engine with no issues in their lifetime,
prob does not answer your question,
not 100% sure on life expectancy, dont think they publish replacement intervals with chains,
