w124 towbar; saloon - estate.

i have a 1991 300e 4matic that has an mot, but not taxed. i want to tow a trailer with seaweed from the beach to my garden. there is no towbar. i also have a 1988 300te with a demountable towbar. have read the "towbar" threads, and think that swapping the towbar over is a non starter. is that so? my 1991 300te 4matic has developed "4matic" problems, so can no longer go on the beach.
is there any advice out there?

Have u physically measured the towbar against the car, it can be altered to fit ..or you could sell it to230K and buy the proper one for ur car

too wet in west of scotland to get under car yet. even too wet to plant my potatoes!
will try to get towbar off. then i can offer it up to the saloon.
