Wanted, walnut trim panel round gear lever on post-facelift W124

This type has four electric window switches, a cutout switch for the rear windows and a large electric mirror adjustment switch. Typically late cars have quite dark Walnut

If it is polished wood it can be stripped flatted and re sprayed, but I think that they are Formica as most split with age. this stuff is not very thick so the sanding possible is limited. You could flat it a bit and re spray and the paint would stick quite well,, though when sanding you must be very careful not to expose the edge of any splits.

You could take the formica off and use real veneer, but again this must match the car.

So first what is it made of

Surely it is finest German Walnut, grown and nurtured over centuries in forests protected by a crack squad of Jagdmeister for the express purpose of gracing my fine motor vehicle? :)

That might actually have been true when the 124 was made.

Now it will doubtless be a cheap photo-veneer film on thin MDF.

Doh! must stop running down the new MBs, some members get upset.
