Hi All,

Been having some problems in recent months with the window switches in my centre console sticking (usually in the up position) - driver's window in particular.

Are these switches serviceable in any way or am I best off replacing them?

If the former, any hints on how would be welcome (eg, do they need to be dismantled - or sprayed from the outside with some type of lubricant, etc)

Car in question is a '96 E320 Coupe.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Are the actual switches mechanically sticking or the windows just not opening?

The switches are mechanically sticking.

The windows are fine but I'm worried that a stuck switch might cause further problems.

Spray some PTFE or Silicon into the knob part and they should be OK it will not hurt plastics or leather

They are very easy to remove, Lift up carpet in the cuppy hole at the back of the wooden switch panel and remove the screw at the back. then the wooden panel lifts up and you can unclip the individual switches. as malcolm clean them up with a suitable switch cleaner.

then swap the drivers with the passengers as thats the one you need most.

I believe they are only about £15 each anyway so might be an idea to get a new one.
