Welcome to the forum, as Jberks it is a shame to change them, it will not look right from all angles, if you must change it you can just replace the grill

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks, i`ve seen this done before when i had my last W126 and thought it looked great. Maybe it was just the grill conversion though, as it passed me at some speed going other way on dual carraigeway.

Most people always wanted the grill with the big star in the center, even on the 201's

I like your style,

Can't make your mind up about the SEC grill, so, just buy an SEC!

Good choice though. When I grow up, I'll chop my SE for an SEC.

Yuck, my bro-in-law had one of those on his 190 and it looked crass.

The grill will probably work, but the "bonnet"?(is this a British MB) will not. The radiator on the SEC is lower (smaller) than on the sel so it would have to be replaced as well. Also I think the SEC hood is slightly narower than the SEL. And I do agree that the conversion, even when done professionally, looks "hokey"

SEL w/SEC grill

I apologize for my "Bonnet"(is this a British MB)" comment. I did not realize this is an international forum.

I agree the large centre badged grill looks krap on 4 door mercs except on the the new C Class and the CLS. Im not sure what a SEC grill on a 4 door S cLass would look like though
