It could be a number of items, the most common from my experience being either of or all of the following.

Faulty Coil Pack

Spark Plug(s)

Injector(s)

MAF

Start with the easy items....Spark plugs
The easiest way to check the coil is to swap them around
Do you know what cylinder it's misfiring on?

it can be the extenders under each coil to plug.

you really need to get to an independent Merc tech and he will be able to read fault codes and you will know immediately the fault without all the messing about.

where based ?

It could be a broken up wiring loom to the coils too.

best get it on a star.
