the auto lights on my ml eratically flick from dip to main beam when in auto mode any ideas on why this could be happening ? the blue main beam indicator flicks on an off at the same time

also where is the sensor located for the auto lights ?

Have a look in the convenience menu, you can turn them on and off from there

The sensor is in the centre of the screen, near the top roughly level with the RVM.

It only switches lights on or off, not from high to low beam (or the other way).

The blue indicator only reflects the high beam status.

Does this erratic operation happen when in not in auto mode?

You will find it in the same windscreen 'cluster' as the rain-sensing sensor (if that makes sense!)

I would say you have a stalk issue as the auto lights have no control over the main beam, only done on the stalk.

It does it in normal mode as well - and it makes a clicking noise.

could it be the relay ? if so what should i ask for when buying one

I would have a look at the stalk too.

Ignore the auto lights and look at the stalk.
