W163 facelift model. Dashboard lights blackout

I have a late model W163 ML270. My dash board lighting has failed.
Any assistance on how to diagnose or repair would be appreciated?

Nobody it seems, has had this fault except me.
Fantastic.

I suspect it is the crappy pcb sytle connections used by MB.
The clocks used to be connected like that on the W210 dash.
Did they continue to make these rubbish connectors in 2005 on the ML?
