I have finally managed to get to the bottom of the diesel smell & strange noise from my beloved ML-270.
It looks as if the seals on injector #5 have been passing & there is a large build up of carbon around the injector. My independent has spoken to the local MB dealer and they are saying it can take upto 10 hrs to clean(maybe with a tooth pick, even my local garage thinks this is excessive) , and they have been known to break when removing them. The stealer is quoting £350 + VAT for the injector. This sounds a bit high, can you get them from a 3rd party, or does it have to be MB. I would hate to get ripped-off twice within a few weeks. anything special to look out for ??
