Duplicate post from Electrics section - sorry - didnt know which part of the forum to post it

Hi. Hope you are all well.
The drivers door lock knob has decided to not always work. Sad face..It stays up half the time when the key central locking is used to close up the car (it stays up but the door is locked okay...). Also when inside the car it doesnt want to be pushed down half the time car (the other doors work fine).
Then later in the day it'll all work okay as designed. Its becoming more frequently though. I have been through the forums but no joy and now at bit of a loss.
Something in the lock actuator that is weakened not moving the lock rod and knob? Anyone had this or any ideas? (and perhaps a fix that doesnt involve a who new unit..)
Thanks

Not good form to have ones knob on display when youre trying to leave your old bessie by the side of the road.

Lost the will to live already - so have booked the knob and its appendages in for a specialist to take a look at it in six weeks or so.

shouldn't laugh, but I did! But seriously.... Could be the knob has come away from the mechanism. Knob possibly screwed into a 'spindle' and the threads may have worn / given up. Alternatively, knob could be glued to said spindle and the glue has broken up? Just a thought. I would try and get a spare knob and fit it.
