I have replaced the rear suspension on my wife's a180 cdi and the drivers side rear sits lower than the other side.
I noticed when changing the passenger side the axel moved a lot and did not require any leverage to remove the spring. Also the Thrust arm seemed very lose in the centre braket.
Would a damaged Thrust arm be the cause of the car sitting uneven?
Thanks

It had the same problem before I changed the suspension! When changing I discovered the passenger side spring had a broken spring.

Just thinking could I be the anti roll bar or stabaliser? That's why passenger side axel dropped when changing the spring due to no torsion

Sure both springs same length? I had one loose, break 1st section of spring off. Are both spring ends located correctly.

Thanks very much.
Soooo where was the break in the spring..?
How many miles do you think you have driven following the break..? I am wondering, especially with the pot holes in our roads, if that could have bent the anti-roll bar.
One more thing, do you notice any pulling in one direction when driving.

Hi Matt I bought the car last year for the wife to learn in and its only done about 2,000 miles in that time.

The break in the spring was the lower coil that goes into the rubber mount! About 2inch break. I did not no it was broken until I removed it.

The car drives straight no pulling!

I was going to check the anti roll bar and stabilisers today but it rained all day.

Thanks.
Just had an idea. Get one more jack exactly like the one in the boot of the Merc, borrow one or buy one from a scrap yard for a fiver.
Then, on a very flat service, raise the two rear wheels same number of turns on each side and measure the gaps between the arch and the top of the tyre.
When does the gap start to differ..?

I am back at work so will have leave it till Saturday.

I bought the springs through Autodoc and the make is eibach. I checked the part numbers before installing.

The problem was there before I changed the springs but the gap was less due to the break on the passenger spring.
I have noticed if I go for a drive and park up it sometimes levels out.
I am thinking antiroll bar or stabaliser! Due to lack of torsion on passenger side. Probably a broken braket/rubber mount/missing bolt.

I will investigate and let you no
Thanks for the advice
