W202 Bonnet gas strut replacement

Hi Guys,

A colleague at work needs to replace the bonnet strut(s) on his '97 C-class (W202). He's seen me with my head under the bonnet of the W124, so obviously I am a Mercedes expert :lol:

Is this a simple enough job for me to help out with? If there are two struts, should both be replaced as a matter of course? Any rough idea of cost?

Yes it is easy to change, you may not need both, as just one failing will not keep the bonnet up.
Put the bonnet in the fully upright position and take off,,you can test by holding the strut and pushing in against a wall,,they should be very hard to push, if you can at all when good
