Hi

My 1994 C180 seems to have no rear speakers :(

Are they are pre cabled in this model or will I have to reroute the wires ?

thanks

Tim, there are 4 round holes for speakers under the parcel shelf, access via the boot, the holes are filled with removable foam pads, just pull them out, note which way the go back in again.

Don’t know if the are pre wired but you could have a “feel” around inside as it is likely that there would be wires in there for speakers.

On mine there are speakers in both front doors and one each side of dash.

I think the 1995/96 models have them pre-wired (pre face lift models but MB revised the spec list after a couple of yrs - you can tell this from the alarm system on the mirror).

I worked at MB for a couple of weeks when I was 15 for some work experience (had no intention of becoming a mechanic but just loved MBs!)

I remember the mechanic who i was shadowing was surprised to find the cables already fitted when we were working on a C180 Esprit (Lapis blue - everyone dropped their tools and laughed as it drove onto the ramps) for PDI. The owner ticked the box for 8 speakrs which was a dealer fit option those days (they came with 2 tweeters in the dashboard and 2 front door speakers as standard). Face lifted versions (post 98) had 8 spkrs standard fit)

Usually, the speaker housing was accessed via removing the rear bench seat and the parcel shelf but to save time, all the mechanics in the garage suggested cutting the rim of the speakrs so that they would slot in via the boot. Don't know whether this affected the sonics!

Hope this helps (hope my memory serves me correct!)

Thanks alot

I had another look this evening and it seems that the parcel shelf will need cutting for the speakers aswell.

What would be the best way of gettign some speakers in the back?

Take out the rear seats and the parcel shelf to wire up to the front?

Any ideas greatly received
